Super 4's Sand Drag

$4000 purse*

New this year at Bobs Family Raceway is the Super 4s Open race. $4000 purse*. $1000 each class, winner take all. Here is how it works:  We will have 4 weeks of qualifying (check the calendar.)  Qualifying will begin each Saturday after the open track session.

What are you qualifying for?  There will be 4 classes, running a heads up race on August 29 , 2009.  The classes are as follows:

Class A faster than  4.000 seconds

Class B  4.000 to 4.499 seconds

Class C 4.500 to 4.999seconds

Class D 5.000 and higher

Ok, so you come on out week 1 and test and tune on the open track session for several hours and have a consistent 5.200, so you will attempt to qualify for Class C.  Why do I say attempt, because we will guarantee the 2 racers closest to 5.000 (for Class C) a spot in the race, EVEN IF YOU GO FASTER THAN 5.000.  Any other racer that attempts to qualify for Class C will be kept on record and could have a spot if their time is closest to 5.000.   We will do this for 4 weekends, if you are one of the 2 in the first 3 qualifying dates, you are guaranteed a spot.  On the 4th qualifying date, we will take all qualifying attempts, including weeks 1,2 and 3, and fill the last 4 spots with the racers closest to 5.000 for Class C. You will get 1 attempt in each lane to qualify, with the best time used.  Example, week 1, 4 racers attempt to qualify for class C with times of 4.982, 5.224, 5.225, and 5.300.  The best two (4.982, 5.224) get a spot in the race and the 3rd and 4th will be kept on record and may still have a spot depending on the rest of the qualifying times in the weeks to follow.  The same will be used in week 2 and 3, and the last 4 spots will be decided after qualifying on the 4th weekend.  YOU MAY ATTEMPT TO QUALIFY MORE THAN 1 WEEKEND!  This will be the same for ALL 4 classes each qualifying day.  So you run a 5.406 and think that it is not worth a try because you are too far away from 5.000, you are less than ½ second from the best and it is possible to red light at the start or go over (faster than) the Class time.  On race day, anyone in class C will have a 5.000 dial time so you cannot go over.  It is ok for qualifying, not on race day.  Class A will be a down and dirty heads up race, first to the finish line wins.

How much does it cost, $20.00 for test and tune which will go from 10AM to 3PM and an additional $30.00 for qualifying.  Total of $50.00 dollars to play for 5 hours and attempt to qualify.  You may attempt to qualify each weekend if necessary or if you just want to try for a better time.  You will have to pay for each attempt you make.

*$4000 purse is based on 20 Qualifiers for each class. If less than 20 qualify for any class, the purse for that class may be reduced.
